Sergiu Caraman is a professor and PhD supervisor in the field of System Engineering, at “Dunărea de Jos” University of Galați, since 2007. The main research directions approached are: modeling and control of nonlinear processes with applications in biotechnological processes including wastewater treatment processes, artificial intelligence techniques in process control, fault diagnosis and isolation techniques. He is the author and co-author of 17 books and book chapters as well as over 100 scientific papers published in journals or presented at symposia and conferences. He has also contributed, as director or member of the research team, to more than 25 scientific research projects. He reviewed papers for the journals Automatica, Processes, Control engineering and applied informatics etc. and is editor-in-chief of the Annals of “Dunărea de Jos” University, Fascicle III (Automation, Informatics, Electrical Engineering and Electronics). It should be mentioned the links of scientific collaboration with GEPEA Laboratory (University of Nantes), Laboratory of signals and systems (Paris-Saclay University) and with the Department of Control Engineering (University of Mons). Last but not least, under his supervision, 6 doctoral theses were finalized, the seventh being in the process of finalizing.
