In 2010, the Department of Automation and Electrical Engineering was established, bringing together members of the Department of Automation and Industrial Informatics (AII), the Department of Electrical Engineering, Machinery and Electrical Installations (EMIE) and the Department of Electrical Conversion Systems Engineering (ISCEE).

The Automation and Electrical Engineering Department is part of the Faculty of Automation, Computers, Electrical and Electronics Engineering of the “Dunărea de Jos” University of Galați.
